In an effort to contact orbitting astronauts, the Castaways devise a makeshift transmitter. It ultimately fails to work due to lack of power.

- The reality is even one person constantly pedalling at break-neck speeds is barely enough to power a 100-watt lightbulb. Given the Castways' less than ideal construction it would be surprising they were ever able to even interrupt other transmissions.
