Stanley

Born in New York City on April 7, 1915, Stanley Adams was an American actor and screenwriter with a lengthy career as a character actor best known for playing comic and pompous characters. His screen debut was as the bartender in the 1952 movie, "Death of a Salesman." He later played another barkeep in "The Gene Krupa Story" and a safecracker in "High School Big Shot" by Roger Corman in 1959.
Adams became best known for playing various television characters through the Sixties, such as Cyrano Jones in the iconic "Star Trek" episode, "The Trouble with Tribbles," a role he repeated in the animated version of the series. He also co-wrote the "Star Trek" episode "The Mark of Gideon" and appeared at a number of "Star Trek" conventions in the 1970s. Adams also played the brother of Otis Campbell on an episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" and two roles as a barkeeper again and a time-traveling con-artist on "The Twilight Zone," respectively in the episodes, "Mr. Garrity and the Graves" and "Once Upon a Time." He also played King Kaliwani in the final episode of "Gilligan's Island" and Tybo in the infamous "Great Vegetable Rebellion" episode on "Lost In Space." He also had appearances on "Gunsmoke," "Death Valley Days," "Bewitched," "The Munsters," "Wild Wild West" and "The Dick Van Dyke Show." His resume of motion pictures includes "Act of Vengeance," "Lilies of the Field," "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "Requiem for a Heavyweight."
Sadly, an injury around 1970 limited his employment opportunities, and Adams fell in a deep depression over the pain he lived with in his life. He died in Santa Monica, California on April 27, 1977 as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 62.
