Born October 26, 1922 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kenneth Lavelle "K.L." Smith was an American actor best known for playing heavies and authority figures through the Fifties and Sixties. Not much of his life is known, but he starred in several Westerns during the Fifties including "Gunsmoke," "Rawhide," "The Untouchables," "Wagon Train," "Bonanza" and "The Virginian." Along with Michael Forest, Michael Witney and Stanley Adams, he was one of several Gilligan's Island guest stars to have starred on "Star Trek," having played a Klingon Captain in the classic original series episode, "Elaan of Troyius." He also had an uncredited role in the Science Fiction classic, "Them!' His other film credits include "The Wild One' in 1953, "Pushover" (1954) and the Elvis Presley movies "Jailhouse Rock" in 1957 and "Roustabout" in 1964. His last appearance was in "The Delphi Bureau" in 1972, afterward retiring from acting. He passed away in San Diego, California at the age of 58 on August 24 1981.
