There are several guns which the castaways took possession of during the series. In the first season episode, "Voodoo Something to Me," they are seen with a revolver (probably the Skipper's), but by the time the episode is over the ammo had run out. Then, in the episode "So Sorry, My Island Now" a WWII Japanese salor arrives on the Island, and the castaways take the two guns he had. These two guns appear again in the episode, "Forget Me Not" when the Skipper uses them to capture the rest of the castaways because he thinks that they're Japanese soldiers and that he's back in the war. During this episode, the others allow themselves to be captured because the guns have ammunition still in them; also during the episode, the Skipper never fired a shot, so it is logical to say that at the end of the episode the guns still had ammo. Also, in the season two episode, "Not Guilty" it is uncovered that the Howells have a small pistol. And yet for some reason, even though the castaways have some guns at their disposal, whenever they're being threatened by natives, a bank robber, or some other person, they never seem to acknowledge their guns. Even though this is kind of annoying at some points, the series wouldn't be as funny if they had used the guns; it would have turned the series into a more serious show which would have contradicted the point.
