Fifi LeFrance is an old Silent Film actress who worked at South Sea Film Productions from around the 1920s and 1930s. She was married to director Ricardo Laughingwell with whom she sailed away to the South Pacific on their honeymoon cruise, something which Mr. Howell calls a tax dodge. Their fate is unrecorded. It is unknown if they were shipwrecked on the island or lost at sea or with their sinking yacht drifting into the lagoon where it became trapped. Nearly thirty years years later, the remains of their yacht are discovered by Gilligan and the Skipper with "a rutabaga-sized hole" and no starboard side, but the The Castaways are able to salvage two crates with camera equipment and costumes in them.
