Agent Hartley (first name unrevealed) is a Central Intelligence Agent in charge of Operation: Orchid, a military project to produce weapons-grade plastic explosive of volatile levels. The chief scientist in the project was Professor Parsons and included Agent Michaels, who was brought in after the fact. Although 75 pounds of the material had been created, Parsons eventually revealed that 25 pounds of the batch had been lost in the South Pacific. The lost crate eventually washed up in the lagoon where it was found by Gilligan and his monkey.
